Description
This section is for students in grades Kindergarten - 2nd.BlackRock is thrilled to relaunch its “Beyond BlackRock Ballet” program for youth. We are eager to provide an 8-week program offering weekly dance instruction. Through grant funding, students will also have the opportunity to expand their knowledge of the world of ballet and experience an exclusive meet-and-greet with a guest speaker at BlackRock Center for the Arts. To conclude the program, in the Spring, dancers will have the opportunity to demonstrate what they have learned in a final performance in our BlackBox Theater.
Students begin to learn basic ballet technique and terminology through exercises at the barre and center floor. Skills such as plié, tendu, relevé, port de bras, jumps, turns, leaps, are explored as students learn fun dances.

The suggested attire for ballet is: Boys – black t-shirt & black tights with black ballet shoes or black dance shorts with black ballet shoes. Girls – black leotard, pink/brown tights, pink/brown ballet slippers. No skirts or tutus. No jewelry. Hair should be pulled away from the face if applicable. If there is any discomfort with the suggested attire, the child’s parent may contact the instructor.
