Please review our Program Selection Chart if you’re unsure which camp to sign up for: https://gigharborjuniorsailing.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/GHJS-Program-Selection-Chart-landscape.png Opti Intermediate camp is designed for sailors ages 8 - 12 who have learned all of the skills from Youth Sailing. Dinghy sailing proficiency is required for enrollment as the class will not teach basic skills. Please contact us if you have questions about if this class is right for your sailor. Opti Intermediate camp is designed for sailors who have demonstrated skills in a Youth class and are ready to learn more. Kids under 110 lbs should take this class. Sailors will build proficiency in boat handling and basic racing skills, sail independently in an Optimist sailboat, and work toward an invitation to the Narrows Race Team Participants should be comfortable in and around the water. Please note all sailors at this level complete a capsize (tip over) recovery test the first day of camp. This is for safety purposes, and will be coached and supported by staff.
