About This Activity
RFKC’s L1 clinic focuses on the fundamentals of river running. This course is focused on building comfort in a whitewater boat, gaining awareness in a whitewater environment, and putting together the fundamental movements of whitewater kayaking. Time will be spent on: paddle strokes, boat control, river reading, using river features (specifically eddy turns, ferries, and low-key surfing), and having fun on the river. Who’s it for: Everyone. Have you been in a whitewater kayak before? No? Great, this is for you. Yes, but it’s been a while? Great, this will be a chance to re-familiarize yourself with your boat and get some pointers to refine your technique. Yes, I paddle all the time? Great, this will be a chance to refine your technique with some guidance, experiment with new things in a non-judgmental setting, and, likely, practice your whitewater rescues. Roll not required. Gear available!
