About This Activity
This camp is for campers with no experience or very little experience playing chess. It is a perfect camp for your K - 4th graders, but it is also a good camp for the beginning player up through 7th grade. Basic rules and strategies will be covered and the goal is mastery by the end of the week. There will be a great deal of individual attention and campers will learn gamesmanship by playing with each other. Chess time will be held to about 90 minutes a day with the remainder of the time devoted to outdoor recess, playing other games, snacks, movies, etc.
