North Carolina History will be explored through 4 FULL DAYS of field trips to locations such as: -New Bern (Governors Palace and Civil War Battlefield), -Washington (Tributary Boat Ride, and Underground Railroad), -Bath (the first town in NC, pirates base), Wilson (the Country Doctor Museum and The Tobacco Farm Life Museum), -Somerset (Somerset Plantation), and Belhaven (evolution of economy from lumbering to fishing , and impact of hurricanes on a community). ONE FULL DAY will be spent on the Oakwood Campus preparing for each visit, and having a hands-on cooking lesson of traditional North Carolina recipes. These trips will be lead by Upper School History teachers Erica Imbimbo and Angus McKellar, and Richard Imbimbo. The fee of $330 covers the daily 7 hour camp, all entrance/touring fees, transportation, cooking supplies, and snacks. Each camper is responsible to pack their lunch. This camp is open to 4th-12th graders, and due to transportation capacity, it will be capped at 12 campers.
