In this beginner-friendly class, students will create richly layered artworks on paper or wood panels using beeswax-based mediums. Participants will experiment with gel plate monotypes, collage elements, and embedded photographs, then learn how to seal, layer, and manipulate their compositions using encaustic wax, oil, and chalk pastels. The result is a textured, atmospheric surface that blurs the line between painting, printmaking, and collage. This class offers an accessible introduction to encaustic processes, image-making, and mixed-media experimentation—perfect for artists ages 14 and up. (Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult.)
