About This Activity
Overview: Observe live plankton under a microscope and learn about their role in the marine ecosystem. Create and race plankton models. Trip Description: Students will learn about the role of plankton by using microscopes to examine live specimens from Long Island Sound. They will design their own planktonic organism model and participate in a plankton race. Learning Outcome: Students will learn about ecosystem services provided by plankton. Ocean Literacy Principle #4: The ocean makes Earth habitable.
