About This Activity
Overview: Use microscopes to identify plankton and the impact microplastics have on them. Trip Description: Students will observe live plankton specimens and learn how to identify microplastics. Students will also learn about sources of microplastics and ways to prevent microplastic pollution by conducting an experiment. Learning Outcome: Students will learn how microplastics enter the marine ecosystem and their impacts on the food web. Ocean Literacy Principle #4: The ocean makes Earth habitable.
