About This Activity
Overview: Students will use a model to explore the effects of erosion and use materials to design strategies to slow or stop the erosion. Trip Description: Students will learn what natural phenomena affect the Earth's surface and cause erosion of the land. They will test the effects of erosion on their model beach, observe changes, and then add materials to try to eliminate the erosion. Students will design multiple options to test which idea is the most effective. Learning Outcome: Students will learn what erosion is and how it changes the shape of beaches, rivers, and mountains. Ocean Literacy Principle # 2 The ocean and life in the ocean shape the features of the Earth.
