Art & Science This camp is the perfect combination of art and science! Each day, campers will explore the marine environment by boat and connect with nature through a combination of habitat exploration, nature journaling, art projects, and water sampling. Campers will look to nature for inspiration as they create 3D collages from found objects along the beach and use seine nets to catch nearshore fish. It’s the best of both worlds! All themed weeks consist of time aboard one of our research vessels and our fleet of Carolina skiffs. Campers embark on a scientific adventure exploring Long Island Sound’s rocky shores, salt marshes, barrier beaches, and more! They will discover the vital role habitats play in our coastal ecosystems by using scientific instruments such as trawl nets, seine nets, plankton nets, and water chemistry kits. Back at Project Oceanology, we’ll reinforce what we have learned through games, art projects, and scientific experiments.
