About This Activity

The Giro del Vino VIII is a "road"cycling event that takes place from the stunning White Horse Winery, Hammonton, Atlantic County, NJ, where you will ride on lightly travel flat roads with lots of straighaway. White Horse Winery is home of New Jersey's premier destination for delicious Old World Dry Wines. There will be various mileage options to choose from, including family friendly 25 miles, to a more experience 45 and a challenging Metric Century (63 Miles). The ride routes are marked and downloadable in Ride with GPS. The ride will be fully SAG supported by local bike shop. The event will also have fully stocked planned rest stops along the way. The cost of the event also includes a post ride celebration at White Horse Winery where you will be treated to a  glass of wine and a free souvenir glass. Participants will also have the option of purchasing a luncheon from local food trucks and there will be live entertainment. NO OUTSIDE ALCOHOL BEVERAGE PERMITTED.

Over the past five years, the Giro del Vino has raised funds for a variety of non-profit organizations. This year, all the Giro del Vino VIII proceeds will benefit the Michele Copeland Memorial Foundation. Michele was a fellow biker who battled serious health issues since the age of 19, when she developed end-stage renal disease. Michele endured 3 kidney transplants and multiple procedures: many years of dialysis and endless hospital stays. After the 3rd kidney transplant, her quality of life improved significantly.

However, that was short-lived when she was suddenly diagnosed with colon cancer at the age of 39. After bravely battling yet again, she succumbed to cancer on May 24, 2024, at the young age of 44. During all of this, Michele looked forward to when she was strong enough to ride her bike and never lost her passion for it.

The most remarkable thing about Michele was that even during her most difficult times, she ALWAYS found the time and energy to help others around her. Her friends and family carry forward Michele’s memory and passion for helping people and communities through the Michele Copeland Memorial Foundation. The mission of the Michele Copeland Memorial Foundation is to extend Michele’s compassionate legacy through charitable initiatives and scholarships. The Michele Copeland Memorial Foundation will seek to honor Michele’s own giving spirit and inspire other to “pay it forward”. The diversity of this charity is to help to improve the quality of life across various communities and help others in their time of need.

For the year 2025, the Giro del Vino ride participation limit has been set at 350 riders

Participants who register early will receive a complimetary long sleeve event t-shirt.
