About This Activity
Description
The Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks with the East Howard Jaguars, Inc. will offer a youth cheer program this fall. In addition to supporting the football players, the goal of this program is to promote fun and to learn cheerleading basics by teaching techniques that emphasize safety. The squad will participate in the Mid-Maryland Youth Cheerleading Competition in mid-November. Practice will be at Hanover Hills Elementary School or Rockburn Branch Park starting at 6 PM and details will be provided in the welcome letter. Games are on Friday evenings or Saturdays and will require travel. Rescheduled games may be any night of the week. Practices are M-F, starting week of August 8, 2022. Practices will be three days a week when Howard County Public Schools begin. The season will run until mid-November or longer if the football teams make playoffs. Each squad member is issued a skirt, vest top and poms. Players must provide crop top, bloomers, hair ribbon and shoes and socks. All participants must have a medical release form and a photo ID from the MVA or MMYFCL on the first day of practice. See concussion information online at https://www.hcrpsports.org/concussion.
REFUND POLICY: A $29 administrative fee applies to all refund requests made prior to July 18. A 50% administrative fee applies to requests made July 18-August 15. No refunds after August 15. Volunteers are needed for coaching, assistant coaching, web site assistance, team admin, and other committees. Prompt drop off and pickup of child/children at recreational programs is mandatory.
