Students become author-illustrators, building a story world from scratch — either an original story with their own characters, or a classic folk tale (Hansel and Gretel, etc.) reimagined with a new twist, like set in space! Students will learn character and scene design, plus a light look at how picture books are made (page counts, spreads, sizes). On the Procreate side, they'll set up canvases and color profiles, choose brushes, build color palettes, use composition tools (guides, symmetry), import hand-drawn art, work with reference photos, and finish pieces with rendering techniques like curves, hue adjustments, blending modes, and Gaussian blur. Each session, students complete a two-page spread. They can keep building the same story over multiple sessions or start a new one each time. iPads and Apple Pencils are provided by the MACC, though students are welcome to bring their own.
