Instructor: Robin Mcdowell Explore the mediums of painting and fiber arts! In the first part of this six-week course, students will learn basic skills to paint with watercolor and gouache. Watercolor is a magical medium for creating loose paintings that express mood. Gouache paint is a fun and versatile medium! It is well-suited for quick, colorful, graphic projects as well as expressive, painterly pieces. In the second part, students will take their painting skills from paper or canvas to a textile surface to create a modern art piece. That may look like using a gouache painting as an inspiration for a weaving or painting on fabric and then embellishing it with embroidery. By the end of the course, students will understand how these two mediums can be paired together in an exciting and experimental way. This is a perfect class for beginners to learn a new skill or for experienced painters or fiber artists to apply their skills in new ways. All materials provided.
