In this 8-week digital animation class, students will explore the fundamentals of animation using Procreate Dreams, learning how to take a still character or scene and give it motion, weight, and personality. Students will be introduced to the 12 Basic Principles of Animation — the foundational rules used by professional animators everywhere: Squash and Stretch Anticipation Staging Straight Ahead Action and Pose to Pose Follow Through and Overlapping Action Slow In and Slow Out (Ease In and Ease Out) Arcs Secondary Action Timing and Spacing Exaggeration Solid Drawing Appeal Through hands-on practice, students will apply these principles to their own characters, learning how small adjustments in movement can make animation feel more natural, believable, and full of life. Prerequisite: Students should already be familiar with Procreate, as we will be drawing in Procreate and animating in Procreate Dreams. iPads and Apple Pencils are provided by the MACC, though students are welcome to bring their own.
