Learn the art of linocut printmaking in this 4-week class designed for teens ages 13–17. Linocut printmaking is the art of carving a relief design into a soft block of material, then using that block as an ink stamp to create original prints. Over the course of four weeks, students will learn the entire process from start to finish — creating a design and transferring it to a block, carving the design with printmaking tools, and finally inking and printing the finished piece. No prior experience is necessary; teens will build carving and printing skills step by step while developing their own creative designs along the way. By the end of the class, each student will take home their own carved block to use again and again, along with a collection of prints made from their original design.
