Dive into discovery with Water, Weather & Climate! In this hands-on STEM adventure, students become hydrologists, meteorologists, and environmental engineers as they investigate how water moves through Earth’s systems, how weather forms, and how weather and climate shape our world. From building water-cycle models and creating clouds and rain to engineering water filters, measuring wind and rainfall, and exploring storms and flooding, every session brings science to life through hands-on experiments and engineering challenges.Throughout the program, students keep their own weather journal, collecting real weather data, identifying patterns, and making evidence-based predictions like real scientists. They design and test weather instruments, storm-resistant structures, and flood-protection systems while discovering how engineers use science to solve real-world challenges. For their final project, teams bring it all together by designing and building a Climate-Ready City, applying what they have learned to create a safer, more resilient community.
This class is a unit of WonderWorks Lab’s 3-year NGSS-aligned STEM program, designed to build science and engineering knowledge and skills throughout the elementary years. Our program builds confidence, strengthens problem-solving skills, and inspires an early interest in STEM—preparing students for future success!
