Pause, Please! Impulse Control for Real Life Dogs is a 5-week group class designed to help dogs learn how to pause, think and make better choices in exciting or frustrating situations. The first week is humans-only and focuses on positive reinforcement training, meeting dogs' enrichment needs and understanding how arousal, frustration and environment impact behavior. The remaining weeks focus on practical, game-based impulse control skills including frustration tolerance, disengagement from distractions, recovery from excitement and building calm without suppression. Please be aware that we will not be having class on April 3rd due to many families having Spring Break that week. Our last session will be on April 10th. This class is for dogs over 6 months who are up-to-date on Rabies and DA2PP vaccines, following your veterinarian's guidance. Safety first, zoomies second. Please email training@hinsdalehumanesociety.org with questions.
