Mini Camp at YMCA Camp Ohiyesa is the perfect introduction to the world of overnight camp for our youngest adventurers, ages 7–9. Over the course of three fun-filled days and nights (Sunday–Wednesday), campers get a taste of the full camp experience — from climbing and canoeing to singing by the campfire — all in a nurturing environment designed to build confidence, independence, and lasting friendships.
This shorter session is thoughtfully designed to help first-time campers ease into overnight camp life. Our caring, trained staff are there every step of the way to ensure campers feel safe, supported, and ready to explore!
- If your camper decides they want to stay the full week, families can opt to extend to the full Overnight Camp session (additional cost applies, minus what’s already paid for Mini Camp).
We’re excited to welcome your child into the camp family and help them start their overnight camp journey with confidence! Here’s what to know about registration:
- Deposit Fee: $100 per week, non-refundable and non-transferable.
- Early Bird Savings: Register in September or October and save up to $10 per week.
- Sibling Discount: Save 5% on each additional child.
- Late Registration: After May 1st, add $20 per week.
We understand plans can change. Because we plan meals, staffing, and supplies ahead of time, cancellations must be emailed to camp@ymcadetroit.org by Tuesday before your session and the following deadlines are followed:
- Written cancellations received by January 31st: 100% of paid program fees will be credited to your YMCA account for future use.
- Written cancellations received on or after February 1st: No refunds or credits will be issued. A $50 cancellation fee per child, per week will apply.
- Written cancellations received on or after April 1st: No refunds or credits will be issued. A $100 cancellation fee per child, per week will apply.
- Registration fees and deposits are always non-refundable and non-transferable
Mini camp is a Sunday - Wednesday program designed for ages 7 -9 as an introduction to overnight camp. Campers are picked up Wednesday at 4pm unless the family is notified their camper wants to stay. If that is the case, families will pay the remaining cost of overnight camp (minus what they've paid for mini camp).
