A first Overnight Camp adventure—just the right size!
Mini Camp at YMCA Camp Ohiyesa is the perfect introduction to Overnight Camp for younger campers who are ready to give camp a try!During this shorter session, campers get a taste of classic camp life—exploring activities, spending time outdoors, making new friends, and singing around the campfire. Our caring YMCA counselors help campers feel comfortable, supported, and confident as they practice independence away from home.
Schedule:
Sunday Check-In: 3:30–4:45 p.m.Wednesday Check-Out: 4:00 p.m.
If your camper is loving camp and wants to stay for the rest of the week, families may have the option to extend to the full Overnight Camp session, space permitting. Additional fees apply.
Registration Details
- Deposit: $100 per camper, per session — non-refundable
- Sibling Discount: Save 5% on each additional child
- Multi-Activity Discount: Save 5% on each additional activity
Plans change—we understand! Cancellation requests should be emailed to camp@ymcadetroit.org. Your $100 deposit is non-refundable. For cancellations made April 1, 2027 or later, an additional $50 cancellation fee per camper, per session applies. Cancellations received less than 7 days before the start of your session are not eligible for a refund or credit. Fees are refundable only in the case of illness or injury with a written note from a physician to YMCA Camping Services. In the case of homesickness, dismissal, voluntary withdrawal, late arrivals, or early departures, there will be no refund of fees. For complete camp cancellation and refund policies, visit

Mini camp is a Sunday - Wednesday program designed for ages 7-9 as an introduction to overnight camp. Campers are picked up Wednesday at 4pm unless the family is notified their camper wants to stay. If that is the case, families will pay the remaining cost of overnight camp (minus what they've paid for mini camp).
