About This Activity
This workshop will introduce students to various genres of writing in both fiction and non-fiction. Students will explore memoirs, life-writing, journaling, short stories, poetry and prose through daily lectures and individual instructional feedback. Daily prompts and fun activities will help young writers find their voice and create a final piece for sharing/keeping toward the end of the workshop. This workshop provides a safe and friendly forum for self-reflection, refinement of personal philosophy, confidence building and public speaking. Both individual and team projects are encouraged for collaborative creative work. This course is taught by local award-winning and critically acclaimed poetess, author, writer and realist painter, and strategy/life consultant and coach Kamlika Chandla. You can find more information on her website www.kamlikachandla.com. Weather appropriate footwear and outdoor clothing should be worn for outdoor periods. Participants need to bring paper, pens, a nut-free snack and refillable water bottle each day. Refrigerators and microwaves are not available.
