Led by Indigenous documentary filmmaker and In Progress teaching artist Tiana LaPointe, The Art of Making Movies provides participants with skills in writing a story, creating storyboards and using video cameras to create meaningful stories. Those that participate will work with others to create movies that can be shared with family and friends. Sessions will also include viewing of media pieces, and discussions about respectful storytelling. In Progress is a non-profit arts group established in 1996 with the purpose of paving the way for new voices in the field of digital media. Today, In Progress represents a broad network of MN artists committed to sharing stories, honoring diversity, and strengthening communities through the arts. Weather appropriate footwear and outdoor clothing should be worn for outdoor periods. Participants need to bring a nut-free snack and refillable water bottle each day.
