LUNCH INCLUDED! The registration fee includes lunch each day (M-F) at the Rice cafeteria. A discount will not be provided for students who choose to bring their own lunch. * A $3.00 administrative processing fee will be applied to your registration upon checkout. Creating Hands-on Experiments in Food Science (CHEF) is a 1-week camp for current 4th and 5th graders. Students will stir, sizzle, and experiment to uncover the science behind food, cooking, and the kitchen. Through hands-on labs, tasty experimenta, and playful challenges, students explore chemistry, physics, biology and engineering using everyday ingredients which also learning about key information in nutrition science. By the end of the week students will develop edible experiments, test hypotheses, and take home delicious discoveries and new scientific skills. Activities will include learning the importance of baking elements, fermentation techniquest to make bread, using bacteria and chemical reactions to make cheese and yogurt, creating sugar crystals and boba beads, and much more!
