In this full-fledged musical, students will spend the semester putting on a full production of "Matilda Jr." including costumes, props, lighting, a set, and more! On the first day of class, students will audition, receive a script, and be assigned a role. Every student who registers is guaranteed a part! For the rest of the semester, students will rehearse twice a week to get ready for the show. Students enrolled in this class are expected to attend two mandatory Saturday Tech rehearsals leading up to the performance. The final performance will take place in the theatre on Saturday, November 14th. Friends and families are invited to pack the house to celebrate their students' accomplishments! No previous experience required. Based on the famous novel by Roald Dahl, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory features an original score composed by Marc Shaiman with lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray) and a book by David Greig. The world-famous Willy Wonka is opening the gates to his mysterious factory…but only to a lucky few. Young Charlie Bucket and four other golden ticket winners will embark on a life-changing journey through Wonka’s world of pure imagination including chocolate waterfalls, nutty squirrels and the great glass elevator, all to be revealed by Wonka's army of curious Oompa-Loompas.
