About This Activity

Revolting children, unite! In this full-fledged musical, students will spend the semester putting on a full production of "Matilda Jr." including costumes, props, lighting, a set, and more! On the first day of class, students will audition, receive a script, and be assigned a role. Every student who registers is guaranteed a part! For the rest of the semester, students will rehearse twice a week to get ready for the show. Students enrolled in this class are expected to attend two mandatory Saturday Tech rehearsals leading up to the performance (Oct. 31 & Nov. 7th). The final performance will take place in the theatre on Saturday, November 14th. Friends and families are invited to pack the house to celebrate their students' accomplishments! No previous experience required. Saturday Tech Rehearsals: Oct. 31st & Nov. 7th from 9am-12pm Final Performance: Nov. 14th at 11am (Actor Call-Time 9:30am) Matilda Wormwood is an unloved child with an astonishing wit, brilliant intelligence, and a deep love for reading. Things are made difficult by her neglectful and egotistical parents, as well as the tyrannical headmistress of Crunchem Hall, Miss Trunchbull, who despises children. Finding refuge in her books and befriending her sweet teacher, Miss Honey, Matilda realizes she has the power to change her own story and helps inspire her classmates to rise up against the bullies.
