The New Stop Motion Academy at Art Works No will lead students to create finished shorts to be featured in a mini Zoom Festival in December. At first we will provide the steps to learning the fantastical art of stop motion animation. The class will focus on creating motion with three different materials: found objects, paper, and clay. First, we will focus on learning the basics of animating. Kids will have a blast learning how the incremental movements followed by photographs of the found objects create magical motion on-screen. Next we will experiment with paper. Kids will have the opportunity to cut out shapes, landscapes, or characters and animate what they create. Finally we will move to claymation and learn the 3 dimensional properties that are possible when creating stop motion. Kids will create short "morph" animations, changing one clay creation into something new.
