Most public and private schools have begun the 2024-2025 school year. Please check your school calendar before registering.Have you ever wondered what it would be like to work in a nature center? Do you love animals of all kinds? Taking care of live animals is just one of the many things naturalists working in a nature center do. Caring for the animals includes cleaning, feeding, and providing enrichment opportunities for them. This is your chance to experience a little bit of what it takes to care for the animals at the Earth Discovery Center including a snake, turtles, fish, frogs, toads, and salamanders.
For the first hour of the program, you will help prepare the diets for the nature center animals. You'll have to be comfortable around frozen mice, live worms, live crickets, prepared pellet foods, and fruits and veggies! (If your child is allergic to seafood, please notify the nature center staff. Pellet food may contain shellfish.) For the second half of the program, you will help feed the animals on the upper level of the nature center where the public is invited to watch. That means your friends and family can come see you feed the animals and take photos and videos during this time.
*Please note that animals may choose to skip a meal or may wait until there are fewer people around before deciding to eat. Actually observing each animal eating is not guaranteed.*
This program is limited to 2 participants and has sold out every time it has been offered. Please register early.
