About This Activity

Instructors: Coaches from Indianapolis Fencing Club Learn the basic skills of the ancient art of the sword! Campers will explore the history and terminology of the Olympic sport of fencing while Certified Professional Coaches teach fundamental footwork, bladework, and competitive tactics. No experience necessary—just curiosity and a willingness to try something new. Why try fencing? *It’s fun, active, social, and welcoming to kids of all sizes, body types, and backgrounds. *Fencing has a long history of inclusion and belonging. *It’s a great workout for both the body and the mind. *Campers build important physical and mental skills—speed, strategy, coordination, and agility. *It develops discipline, respect, maturity, and sportsmanship. *Fencing is considered one of the safest sports around—safer than basketball, football, soccer, baseball, and cheerleading. *It can be a valuable asset in the college application process. Many colleges have NCAA or club teams, including IU, Purdue, and Notre Dame. *You’ll join a vibrant U.S. fencing community of more than 40,000 members.Beg
