Camp Requirements:- This camp is limited to first-time participants. Individuals who have participated in this camp previously are not eligible.
- Due to limited space, a reminder email will be sent 10 days prior to the camp. Participants must confirm their attendance at that time or risk forfeiting their spot.
Camp Information:
- The Iowa City Emergency Services Camp for students completing grades 6–8 and 9–11 will be held Thursday, July 16, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM at the Terry Trueblood Recreation Area Lodge. Lunch and a small snack will be provided. Participants with allergies or dietary restrictions are encouraged to bring their own lunch.
- Topics may include introductions to various emergency service agencies and their associated emergency response equipment (fire hoses, high-angle rescue equipment, ambulance and medical equipment, police equipment and vehicle, animal shelter). Topics are not all-inclusive and are subject to change.
- Participants should wear comfortable clothing appropriate for summer weather and physical activity. Open-toed shoes are not permitted. There is a chance participants may get wet.
Camp Code of Conduct:
As a participant, I will:
Respect• Be respectful, cooperative and will contribute positively to the experience of fellow campers.• Be careful and considerate that my actions will not hurt another camper’s feelings or hurt them physically, either intentionally or accidently• Show respect to the camp staff and cooperate fully with their instructions. Follow directions at all times.• Be respectful of all camp property and equipment/supplies.
Behavior• Conduct myself responsibly. I understand that horseplay, inappropriate touching, unwelcome teasing/bullying or any unkind behavior is not allowed and will not be tolerated.• Communicate in an appropriate manner, which means I will not use foul language, gestures, or harsh words. I will not raise my voice, or use verbal threats of any kind.
Safety• Campers will adhere to all safety rules and regulations given for each activity that he/she participates in while at camp.• Weapons, look-alike weapons, or objects that may be used to threaten, intimidate, or harm others or to damage property may not be brought to camp.
Violation of the Code of Conduct can be groups for disciplinary actions including but not limited to suspension/dismissal. This decision will be made by the two leaders of EMS camp and is at their ultimate discretion.
