Ideal for campers between 8 and 11 years old who have not had significant language exposure and for campers who have had exposure and understand some of the language, but do not speak it. This level is a foundational level that helps students go from not speaking to speaking, reading and writing in Spanish with more confidence. Students must have reached age 7 by June 15. Parents agree to purchase minimum 2 week registration and weeks chosen need to be consecutive. Parents agree to abstain from registering to start the last 2 weeks of the program. The Aloha Week/ Semana de Aloha Cosmo is feeling Hawaiian vibes and wants you to go with him to this beautiful land. This week we’ll be learning so many wonderful things about this island that soon, if you haven’t been, you’d want to go and see it for yourself. Did you know that Hawaii is the only U.S state with 2 official Languages? Can you guess which ones those are? Do you know if Spanish is spoken in Hawaii? If you guessed right, the official languages are English and Hawaiian and yes, Spanish is one of the more commonly taught languages in schools. This island is such a multicultural hub with a variety of languages spoken like Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Tagalog, Ilocano, Samoan, Vietnamese, Thai and Portuguese. Did you also know that the hula is a traditional Hawaiians dance that tells a story through movement? We cannot wait for the hulas, for the music, and the movement to transport us to this magical place. See you there!
