Ideal for campers between 8 and 11 years old who have been exposed to the language significatively through our Colega classes, immersion schools or relatives who speak the language. Kids need to be assessed to be in this level so please contact us to schedule the assessment. This week we thought it was pertinent to rescue highly important things that aren’t taught or talked about much in schools. While playing on the playground, Luc fell and he seems hurt. What would you do if you were there? What value or set of values would you apply if you decide to do something? Is it honesty? Justice? Determination? Consideration? Love? How would you express those feelings in Spanish? Luckily for all of us, saying those words in Spanish is easy as those are called cognates. Cognates are words that are very close in meaning, spelling and pronunciation, so in Spanish you’d say honestidad, justicia, determinación, and consideración. Love isn’t so much a cognate, but it’s a small word (amor) with a huge meaning. Kids will be presented with situations from fables, short stories and real life events in which they will have to think of ways to apply those values and help themselves and others. The lesson will be that even if we all look like separate little islands, we can always find something in common and build an imaginary bridge to reach somebody else and come closer to each other. Our teachers and the stories they have in store for you are going to help your kids build character and be better citizens of this world! Join us!
