Join us as we explore the surprising ways math and creativity work together. Students will discover how M.C. Escher used geometry to design mind-bending tessellations and infinity patterns and how Henri Matisse “painted with scissors” to create bold, balanced shapes. Through hands-on projects, students will experiment with symmetry, repetition, and never-ending designs—while learning to embrace challenges and ambiguity to see art from different perspectives. At the end of this class, each student will take home their own math-inspired artwork and a fresh appreciation for how curiosity, problem-solving, and imagination can shape the world of art.
