In this exciting, project-based afterschool program, students in grades 3–5 will explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) through creative, hands-on challenges. Students will experience both MIT Scratch and LEGO Robotics, rotating between digital design projects and robot-building activities. With MIT Scratch, students will create interactive stories, games, and animations while exploring coding concepts such as events, loops, conditionals, and variables. Through LEGO Robotics, they will build, program, and test working models, discovering how motors, sensors, and code work together to bring their ideas to life. Throughout the program, students will strengthen their creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills. They will practice testing and improving their designs, sharing their work, and building confidence with technology. No prior coding or robotics experience is needed. Instructors will provide guidance and challenges appropriate to each student’s learning level. Regular updates will be shared through ClassDojo so families can follow their child’s learning and celebrate their accomplishments.
