About This Activity

Full-Day Combo Camp: Dragon Masters + Hive Quest (K–8th Grade) Fuel your young creator’s imagination with a full day of coding, problem-solving, and digital design! This engaging combo camp blends Scratch game development with an environmental Minecraft adventure. Students from K–8th grade are grouped by age and skill level, ensuring every learner works at the right pace with appropriately challenging activities. Morning: Scratch – Dragon Masters Campers begin the day building and coding their own dragon-themed adventures in Scratch. > Younger learners (K–3rd) focus on foundational skills like sequencing, simple loops, sprite movements, character creation, and basic game interaction. > Older learners (4th–8th) dive deeper into game design using variables, conditionals, multi-sprite interactions, and more advanced animations and logic. All students design custom dragons, create quests, and bring their ideas to life through interactive coding challenges. Afternoon: Minecraft – Hive Quest In the afternoon, campers enter a custom Minecraft Education world focused on bees, ecosystems, and environmental STEM concepts. > Younger learners use block-based coding to guide characters, complete pollination quests, and build simple hive structures. > Older learners advance to MakeCode or introductory Python to automate systems, engineer sustainable habitats, and tackle multi-step environmental missions. Across all age groups, students explore bee biology, the importance of pollinators, and real-world problem-solving through hands-on digital challenges. This full-day experience combines creativity, coding, science, and teamwork—perfect for K–8th grade learners who love to build, explore, and design across two powerful platforms! Pack a thermos and lunch for your learner to enjoy a lunch break between sessions. Parents will receive daily updates on your child's learning and projects.
