Registration will close on 10/25/2026 at 11:59 pm Junior Girl Scouts will explore the power and purpose of writing while earning the Scribe badge through a creative, hands-on program with author Sara Shacter. Throughout the day, Girl Scouts will experiment with several forms of writing, including poetry, interviews, autobiographical storytelling, fiction/playwriting, and letters or persuasive essays. Activities will encourage girls to use writing to express themselves, connect with others, entertain, educate, and advocate for change. Participants will practice haiku, interview a partner and share what they learn, write about a meaningful personal memory, collaborate on an original group play, and create a letter they can send into the world. The program closes with recognition of the girls’ work and presentation of Scribe badges. Each participant will receive a copy of Shacter’s book “Georgia Watson and 99 Cent Campaign” and the Scribe Badge! Please bring a packed lunch! Food will not be provided. Please bring a packed lunch.
