"Calling all creatives, weirdos, nerds, and clowns! Do you memorize song lyrics even to the songs you don’t even like? Do you like playing make-believe? Do you dance around in you living room? Do you believe in fairies? Join Donnie Gott for a summertime adventure filled with humor, magic, transformation, and most importantly PLAY! This two-week course will introduce students to Shakespeare by way of some of his most delightful characters and will provide young artists with a joyful and engaging pathway to learning about Shakespeare. Students will work from the original text to explore Shakespeare’s language – touching on the use of iambic pentameter and verse with an overall focus on understanding. Over the course of the camp, students will craft a Shakespearean monologue or scene under professional direction and develop performance skills through movement and breathwork. Actors will learn to provide constructive evaluation of each other’s work and learn how to incorporate evaluation into their own work. Each day will bring opportunity for education, connection, exploration, and fun in a supportive and inclusive environment. Sign up today for one or both sessions, and come and play!
