About This Activity
Description
Music Makers is a group music therapy class designed for children ages 11–16 with disabilities who are interested in using music as a tool for socialization, self-expression, and recreation. Led by a board-certified music therapist, this class provides a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where participants can connect with peers and explore their creativity through music. Students will engage in a variety of music therapy activities such as singing, instrument playing, songwriting, and collaborative music-making. Activities are adapted to meet individual needs and abilities, encouraging confidence, communication, and meaningful participation for every child. This class is designed to be welcoming and accessible for all participants. Each child must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver for the duration of the class.
Prerequisites: NoneMaterials: Required lesson book will be provided at the first class
Schedule: Mondays, January 26 – May 11, 4:00pm – 4:45pmNo classes on March 28 (UMKC Spring Break)
Tuition for full semester: $250REFUNDS: All tuition and fees are non-refundable.
