About This Activity
You’ve learned the basics. Maybe you’ve taken a beginner sewing class before. Maybe you can thread the machine… most of the time. Maybe you still use a magnetic seam guide—and honestly? So do plenty of experienced sewists. If you know how to sew a straight line, understand the importance of back tacking, and are ready to make something useful, this class is for you. At Jessica’s Sewing School, our Adult Tote Bag Workshop is designed for newer sewists who want more practice, more confidence, and a fun night creating alongside other women who are learning too. This is not an absolute beginner class, but it's still very basic. We’ll guide you through the project step-by-step in a supportive, welcoming environment where questions, laughter, and seam-ripping are all part of the process. There’s something special about learning to sew in a room full of people cheering each other on, comparing fabric choices, helping untangle bobbin disasters, and celebrating finished projects together. Sewing is more fun when you don’t have to figure it out alone. In this workshop, you’ll: 🧵 Build confidence using a sewing machine 🧵 Practice sewing skills in a real project 🧵 Learn techniques that help your sewing look cleaner and more professional 🧵 Spend an encouraging, creative evening with other women who “get it” 🧵 Leave with a custom tote bag you’ll actually be excited to use Students bring their own fabric and supplies, but our sewing machines and classroom tools are available for you to use during class. Come sew, chat, laugh, learn, and make something together. 💛 Materials NOT included. Please bring the following supplies: Two coordinating cotton fabrics such as quilters cotton* (1 yd of each) One spool of coordinating universal thread. *It is highly recommended that you prewash your fabric before beginning your project.
