About This Activity

Learn the basics of cooking in these fun, hands-on class designed for kids! In the CAJUN COOKING Sessions, explore traditional flavors and create simple, delicious dishes with a taste of Louisiana culture. In the ITALIAN COOKING session participants will learn to make classic dishes like pasta, pizza, and more while discovering the flavors of Italy. The ADVANCED COOKING session is designed for young chefs who have attended one of the beginner cooking camps (cajun or italian in 2024 or 2025) and already have some experience in the kitchen. Participants will enhance their skills by learning about more complex techniques, how to follow detailed recipes, and will also develop an understanding for cooking terms and safety tips. Participants will work in groups of 4 to prepare a variety of traditional Cajun dishes and will take home portions of the meals they cook, so be sure to send take home containers. These camp sessions encourage teamwork, confidence and a deeper passion for cooking. Master Instructor in Hospitality Management, Becky Dubois will lead this camp. Participants must wear a hat/cap or hair net, apron and closed toe shoes.
