About This Activity
Description
Create Tomte and places for Snowmen to play in this immersive fiber arts camp. Experiment with fiber to dye and spin, weave and felt with these hands-on activities. In this Christmas in July inspired camp students learn about color theory and different types of fibers. Dive into dyeing wool with food grade safe dyes. Once the wool is dry, learn about wet felting and felt little snowmen and spinning yarn on drop spindles. Students make Tomte or gnome shelf sitters from their spun yarn. Then work on warping simple looms and weave a Santa ornament; with some of the yarns used being students own handspun. And finally, create little needle felted Winter wonderland dioramas with wet felting pieces and spun yarn. Students need to wear clothing that can be stained for the 1st day only. All supplies are provided. Before Care 7:30-9a @ $25 week
