This workshop will introduce participants to weaving on a Rigid Heddle Loom. The result of this class will be a colorful hand-woven: set of placemats, a pillow, scarf or table runner. This course is appropriate for beginning weavers. (ages 7 – adult) During the first session participants will learn how to prepare their loom (warp it) with the colors and patterns of their choice. During the second session participants will complete the warping process and start weaving their strap. During the third, participants will take their weavings off the loom, tie knots, hand sew and stuff projects to complete their projects. Timeline: 1st session (July 29th) 4:00-7:00 • Introduc4on to Rigid heddle loom weaving • Choose colors and patterns • Start warping your loom 2nd session (July 30th) 4:00-7:00 • Finish warping your loom • Tie on your warp threads & weave in filler • Learn how to weave with a shuttle stick 3rd session (July 31st)- Optional Open studio time for independent weaving 4:00-7:00 4th and final session (August 1st) 4:00-7:00 • Finish weaving • Get cut off the loom – tie knots – sew and/or stuff your weaving Instructor Bio: Katie Weaver has been teaching weaving and other fiber arts for 30 years at North Country School, Northwood School, and around the ADKs. She is a Lake Placid native and enjoys sharing her weaving knowledge with the community.
