This 5-day Junior (Ages 8-14) sailing class is held Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM with examination day being Friday. This class provides a fun, hands-on introduction to sailing. Designed for new sailors, this program teaches essential sailing skills in a supportive and engaging environment. Participants will learn basic sailing terminology, fundamental techniques, and how to properly rig a boat. Instruction also includes practicing key sailing knots and understanding how wind and sail work together. On the water, students will develop boat-handling skills by learning to steer, trim sails, and maneuver safely using both the sail and rudder. Safety is a top priority. On the first day, participants will complete a water comfort assessment and a capsize lesson with a guided drill to build confidence and preparedness. Prerequisite: Participants must be comfortable swimming in open water away from shore.
