Children will learn how butterflies metamorphosize from caterpillars and then make one of each. First they'll arrange 8 colorful pre-cut circles to form a caterpillar. Using markers, they will add legs, a face and letters spelling out L-A-K-E-S-I-D-E on each segment of the caterpillar. Then they'll make a butterfly using markers and rubbing alcohol on coffee filters. Children are fascinated to see how the colors bleed and create a tie-dye effect. Twist the filters together with pipe cleaners, add antennae and you have yourself a colorful fluttering butterfly. NOTE: Children under the age of 7 must be accompanied by an adult.
