About This Activity

Explore what a watershed is, why watersheds are important, and how people can affect water quality by using a hands-on interactive watershed model. The program will focus on how activities on land can negatively affect water quality, and will also explore what we can do in our everyday lives to improve it. Students will gain hands-on experience learning how scientists test the water quality of Lake Erie using specialized equipment. They will see live plankton and algae, and test the chemical water quality of Lake Erie at the Lakeside Chautauqua Dock. NOTE: This is a parent/child program. Parents/guardians are kindly requested to stay and share the experience with their child. Pre-registration is not required. This program is included with your Lakeside Chautauqua Gate Pass.
