This 4-day beginner Sailing class runs Monday-Thursday from 10:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. In this fun and experiential sailing program participants will learn the basics of sailing including sailing terms and fundamentals, boat rigging, basic sailing knots. Boat handling including maneuvering the sail and rudder will be practiced. Participants must be comfortable swimming in the open lake away from shore. A water comfort check as well as capsize lesson and drill will be completed on Day 1. New sailors are invited to practice their skills by joining the "Friday Flotilla" from 8:15 a.m. through 12:30 p.m. following course completion. The event begins with camaraderie, beverages and an open grill at the Sailing Center from 8:15 - 9 a.m. Sailors decide together a nearby destination and depart at 9:15 a.m. Instructors accompany the group and new sailors are paired with sailing apprentices for safety. Estimated return is between noon and 12:30 p.m.
