About This Activity
Blackout poetry is a form of "found poetry" where you take a printed piece of text from a book, newspaper, or magazine and redact or "black out" words, in order to create your very own poetry. This project melds writing with art when you further enhance your poetry with decorations or illustrations. This class will use old books, magazines, markers and colored pencils. Time permitting, you may create several poems. Select one to be mounted in a 5"x7" frame.
