About This Activity
Description
Tuition: $380. This set of essentials classes are geared towards students who want to explore all three areas of musical theater. They are perfect for students just starting in theater, needing a refresher, or for those that want instruction in acting, music, and dance. Repetition of these classes is highly recommended as materials are changed for each session. Each session is catered to the students enrolled. Strong second-grade level reading skills are needed to participate in Fundamentals/Essentials. Students work with three teachers and cover three core disciplines: acting, singing, and dancing. Each class has limited enrollment, is filled on a first-come, first-served basis, and is subject to change or cancellation. Acting: Students explore basic and essential acting skills through focused exercises and theater games. These activities reinforce listening and reaction skills and interaction between actors. Students learn the groundwork of stage performance and the language of theater study. Musical Theater: In this exploration of singing and dancing in the style of musical theater, students learn basic and commonly used techniques in vocal and movement performance. Skills include proper warm-up, breath support and vocal production, basic sight reading, direction, and memorization. Students work with a choreographer to develop movement sequences and dance to accompany vocal work. Students in Musical Theater Essentials will receive a higher level of difficulty with music and dance routines. New content is explored each semester.
