PREREQUISITE: having taken a sewing machine intro class or demonstrated ability to use a sewing machine. This 4-week program will explore the ins and outs of making your own clothing. In this class, students will learn and practice skills that can be applied to garment construction projects and learn things such as working with patterns, seam finishes, facings, and hems. Students will supply their own fabric and patterns. In the first meeting, we will discuss fabric options, how to measure the body, and how to choose patterns and sizes. DO NOT PURCHASE THESE until after the first class meeting. This class is taught by Teaching Artist, Melly Kellogg, and meets on Thursdays, 6:00 - 8:00 pm, October 16- November 6. Participants in Sew Fun courses may attend our Open Sewing Labs, where participants can bring in their own sewing projects to work on, get help with troubleshooting, and get sewing ideas from sewing experts! This class is for adults and teens ages 16+. If you are registering someone ages 18 or younger and are interested in a scholarship, please contact us at 517-999-3643 or info@reachstudioart.org.
