About This Activity

Youth Sewing 101 offers an introduction to operating the sewing machine, focusing on safe and effective use of the machine, including winding the bobbin, threading the machine and executing straight and zig-zag stitches to sew seams on cloth. Over two days, students will become familiar with essential sewing machine parts and practice safe use of the machine. This course will be conducted by Artist and sewing instructor Emma Roeder. If you have a working sewing machine at home, you are encouraged to bring it to use in class. If not, we have sewing machines for you to use. Participants in the Sew Fun courses may attend our Open Sewing Labs, where participants can bring in their own sewing projects to work on, get help with troubleshooting, and sewing ideas from sewing experts! Full and Partial Scholarship options are available. Scholarship item will appear during checkout if you complete the scholarship section of registration, are eligible, and if remaining scholarships are still available.
