This unique class meets teens where they are in their journey with clay. In this two-hour weekly class, students will begin by learning how to shape and spin clay on the pottery wheel — turning a lump of clay into something beautiful. Artist and instructor Dana Rothe will guide young potters through the basics, including centering, throwing, trimming, and glazing, while encouraging creativity and development for our returning students, all while fostering confidence along the way. This is a fun, supportive class for students of all experience levels to explore, learn, and express themselves through art. All materials and supplies are included in the cost of the class. Teen Clay students receive free admission to Friday Clay Lab, a self-directed session with minimal staff support. REACH staff reserve the right to determine whether a student has reached the level of proficiency necessary to attend clay lab, and parents will be asked to sign an additional waiver form. To secure a time slot for a session, check in with your Teaching Artist in person. Full and Partial Scholarship options are available for REACH youth classes. Scholarship amounts will be reflected at checkout if you complete the scholarship section of the registration form and if the remaining scholarships are available.
